We've had lots of excitement in kindergarten lately!  The end of the school year is only 9 1/2 days away and coming quickly. Before we know it we'll be giving our last good-bye hugs and heading off for summer vacation! Despite the countdown to summer, we are still working hard in Room 8.

The past couple weeks were working hard on pieces for Elm Street's 1st annual Literacy Night! Thank you for all those who were able to attend, it was a great success! :) We've also been working on our second batch of letters to send to "our soldier" in Afghanistan! We received his letter in the mail last Thursday afternoon and quickly began work on a new letter to boost his spirits. Those will hopefully be going in the mail tomorrow.

In math we've been working on coin exchange and learning how to trade pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. This is a difficult concept for 5 year olds but the kiddos are working hard at it! We are also beginning to learn how to read a clock to the hour.

We have many upcoming events in the next few weeks.
  • June 14th – Field Day
  • June 15th – Step Up Day
  • June 18th – End of the Year Class Party at 1pm!
  • June 19th – last day of school (half day) & Wildcat Assembly at 9am

Coins, coins, coins!

We have been working very hard on recognizing coins lately. We have talked a lot about pennies, nickels and dimes. Continue working with your child at home about how much these coins are worth, the size and color of them and who/what are on the head and tails side of each!
